OUR GOAL
To provide an A-to-Z e-commerce logistics solution that would complete Amazon fulfillment network in the European Union.
For any shipment going to an Amazon fulfillment center, securing a delivery appointment is a mandatory step. This process is managed through a portal called Carrier Central. Understanding how to book a compliant delivery window is a fundamental skill for any seller, vendor, or logistics provider in the Amazon ecosystem.
What is a Delivery Window?
A delivery window (or "slot") is a specific date and time range during which an Amazon FC has authorized your carrier to arrive and unload your shipment. It is not just a suggestion; it is a strict appointment. Arriving too early or too late will almost always result in the delivery being rejected, which means the truck is sent away, and you incur rescheduling fees and delays.
The Booking Process in Carrier Central
Carrier Central is the online platform used by transport companies to book these appointments.
- Create an Account: Your carrier must have an account in Carrier Central.
- Enter Shipment Details: To request an appointment, the carrier must enter key information about the shipment, including the PO numbers (for vendors), FBA shipment IDs (for sellers), pallet counts, and carton counts. This information must be 100% accurate.
- Request an Appointment: The carrier requests a delivery appointment for a specific date at the designated FC.
- Amazon Confirms the Window: Amazon's system will then process the request and issue a confirmed delivery window. This might be the exact time requested or a slightly different time, depending on the FC's capacity.
- The ISA Number: Once confirmed, the appointment is given a unique reference number, the Inbound Shipment Appointment (ISA) number. This number is the key to the delivery.
Best Practices for Successful Booking
- Book as Early as Possible: Delivery slots, especially at busy FCs and during peak season (Q4), are a finite resource. They are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Booking weeks in advance is a wise strategy.
- Ensure Data Accuracy: Any mismatch between the information entered into Carrier Central and the actual physical shipment can lead to rejection. Double-check all shipment IDs and quantities before booking.
- Work with an Experienced Partner: The entire booking process requires precision and familiarity with Amazon's systems. Working with a 3PL or carrier who uses Carrier Central daily eliminates the risk of amateur mistakes.
