In medical fulfilment, the record matters as much as the parcel.
A healthcare buyer who cannot tell you which lot went to which customer does not have a supply chain problem. They have a documentation problem that becomes a supply chain problem the first time something is withdrawn.
Batch is the unit of account
Two identical items from different lots are different inventory. Capturing the lot at receipt and carrying it to dispatch is what makes a withdrawal a database query instead of a stocktake.
Expiry is not optional here
Consumables, reagents and test kits date. FEFO picking is enforced by the WMS rather than left to a picker's judgement, and short-dated stock is held rather than shipped.
Returns are quarantined, then assessed
A returned healthcare item is isolated on arrival and assessed second. Restocking happens only where your written policy and the packaging condition both allow it.
Demand arrives in spikes
Healthcare consumables do not sell on a smooth curve. Capacity has to absorb a spike without the date discipline being the first thing to slip.

Receive, check & log
Cartons and pallets verified against the ASN, with batch number and expiry logged for every line and packaging integrity checked. Anything short-dated, damaged or missing lot data is held rather than put away.
Storage with FEFO / FIFO
Stock is slotted by class and movement rate with real-time lot and expiry visibility. Rotation is enforced by the system, not chosen at the pick face.
Pick, pack & seal
Pick routes are scan-verified line by line, with tamper-evident sealing and inserts carrying the instructions-for-use copy you supply. Same-day dispatch inside the cut-off.
Shipping medical equipment across the EU
Carrier services chosen per lane from the German, Polish and French hubs, weighted toward transit reliability, since a delayed consumable order is usually a clinical inconvenience rather than a retail one.
Returns: quarantine, then decide
Inspect, quarantine, then restock, relabel or dispose to your written policy, with scannable IDs at check-in and the disposition recorded against the lot.

Traceability is a process, not a certificate.
What we can evidence is mechanical: lot and expiry captured at receipt, rotation enforced by the system, scan verification at pick, quarantine before assessment on every return, and a per-lot record of where units went. That supports a withdrawal and it survives a customer audit.
Warehouse traceability covers the operational flow. Where the product class or quality agreement requires a certified quality management system or validated-temperature control at the logistics provider, that requirement becomes a separate onboarding gate and is checked against the proposed setup.

Questions before you move stock
Receiving consumables and equipment into an EU warehouse, logging batch and expiry at inbound, storing under enforced rotation, picking with scan verification, and quarantining returns before they are assessed. The difference from general fulfilment is that the lot record has to survive the whole journey, not just the pick.
Operational controls and certification are separate questions. If your product class requires a certified quality management system at the logistics provider, that requirement must be confirmed before onboarding. Our current scope is healthcare consumables, test kits and non-sterile equipment handled with batch, expiry, scan and quarantine controls.
Lot number and expiry are captured at goods-in and carried through picking and dispatch, and rotation is enforced by the WMS rather than left to the pick face. Short-dated stock goes on hold so a decision is made about it while there is still time.
Yes. Because the lot is captured at receipt and recorded at dispatch, affected units are identified by lot and the outbound history is retrievable. Remaining stock is quarantined and segregated from sellable inventory.
Yes. Components are held as their own stock lines with their own batch and expiry, and kits are assembled against a build specification. Kits can be broken back down to components when a configuration changes.
On the fulfilment side, yes. Import, regulatory and market-access questions — importer of record, customs and duty treatment — sit with the customs and cross-border side of the FLEX. Group rather than with a warehouse.
